Greg Fayard is a founding shareholder of Cardinale Fayard. He is an accomplished trial and litigation attorney who has represented Northern California and Central Valley professionals, businesses, contractors, and healthcare providers in complex and large exposure lawsuits.
Greg began his practice as a deputy attorney general with the California Department of Justice, where he defended health care professionals in a variety of matters and helped oversee and implement settlement provisions of a large healthcare system class action. He has extensive experience defending governmental agencies and employees in section 1983 litigation including trial and on appeal before the United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit.
In private practice, Greg's experience includes numerous multi-party litigations in both federal and state court. He represents contractors in construction matters and defends financial professionals and broker-dealers before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). He is particularly known for defending California lawyers and law firms in malpractice suits and before the State Bar of California. He is certified by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization in legal malpractice law (one of approximately 100 such lawyers in California). He also obtained a published opinion in his client's favor in a public records act case. See Getz v. Superior Court (2021) 72 Cal.App.5th 637.
Greg received his law degree in 2000 from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, with a Certificate in Governmental Affairs. In law school he was a staff writer for the law journal, California Initiative Review and received special accommodation for his trial advocacy skills. Previously, he earned a Master's degree in political science from the University of Utah and a Bachelor's degree in public relations from Pacific Union College, in Angwin, California.
A leader in bar and civic activities, Greg is past president of the Placer County Bar Association and Pacific Union Adventist Attorneys Association. In 2011, the Placer County Board of Supervisors appointed him to a four-year term as a county parks commissioner. He currently serves as co-chair of Placer County's property tax Assessment Appeals Board. From 2013 to 2016, Greg served as chair of the school board at Sacramento Adventist Academy. He writes and speaks regularly on California legal ethics, including Sacramento Lawyer magazine.
